# Local Network

Use this setup when Paper and MediaMTX run on one computer while OBS runs on another computer in the same home network.

## Generate configuration

Run:

```
/screen mediamtx lan
```

If LuigiScreen detects multiple LAN addresses, enter the address belonging to the network used by the OBS computer.

Example LAN address:

```
192.168.1.64
```

## MediaMTX computer

Copy the generated `mediamtx.yml` to MediaMTX and restart it.

Allow inbound TCP `55556` in the firewall of the MediaMTX computer.

## OBS computer

Use the complete generated URL. It will contain the LAN address of the MediaMTX computer.

## Router

No router port forwarding is needed because traffic remains inside the local network.

## Keep the LAN address stable

Reserve the MediaMTX computer address in your router's DHCP settings or assign a suitable static LAN address. Otherwise the OBS URL can stop working after the address changes.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://unknown-56-works.gitbook.io/luigiscreen/network-guides/lan.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
